Your Vocals, Mixed to Release Standard
Send your dry vocal stems and 2-track instrumental. We deliver a clean, polished, streaming-ready vocal mix — pitch-corrected, spatially placed, and loudness-optimized. From $129.
Vocal Stems Over 2-Track Mixing
Vocal mixing is the process of taking your raw, unprocessed vocal recordings and blending them into a finished instrumental so everything sits right. Your vocal becomes part of the track — not something pasted on top of it.
The format is straightforward: you provide dry vocal stems (individual WAV files, one per vocal part, no effects) and a 2-track instrumental (a single stereo file of your already-mixed backing track). We mix your vocals into that instrumental using EQ, compression, pitch correction, timing alignment, de-essing, reverb, delay, and stereo placement.
This is different from full multitrack mixing, where every instrument has its own track and the engineer rebalances the entire song. We focus on vocals for a specific reason: vocal mixing is the part of the chain where a dedicated specialist makes the biggest audible difference. A great vocal mix can transform a decent home recording into something that sounds like it belongs on a playlist.
Who needs this: independent artists who record vocals at home or in a project studio, singer-songwriters with a finished instrumental from a producer, cover artists who need their vocal polished over a backing track, and anyone who has a great take but knows it does not sound finished yet.
What You Need to Provide
Getting these materials right on your end means a faster turnaround and a better result. Here is what we need.
Dry Vocal Stems
Each vocal part as its own WAV file: lead vocal, harmonies, doubles, ad-libs. 24-bit or 32-bit float, 44.1kHz or 48kHz. No effects, no EQ, no compression, no reverb. Dry means dry.
Properly Labeled Files
Name your files clearly. Good: "Lead_Verse.wav", "Harm_High_Chorus.wav", "Adlib_Outro.wav". Bad: "Audio_01.wav", "Track 3.wav". Labeled files save us both time and prevent mix mistakes.
2-Track Instrumental
A single stereo WAV or high-quality MP3 (320kbps) of your mixed instrumental. This is the backing track your vocals sit on. It should be the final version — we do not adjust the instrumental balance.
Reference Track (1-3)
Send us songs whose vocal sound you want to match. YouTube or Spotify links are fine. We match the vocal tone, spatial treatment, and overall finish to your references.
Pitch Correction Preference
Light and transparent (natural, preserves character), moderate (clean but still human), or heavy (polished pop/electronic tuning). Let us know, or we will match your reference track.
Export Tip: Consolidated From Zero
- Export every vocal track from the very start of your session (bar 1, beat 1, or 0:00)
- All files should be the exact same length — this ensures they line up perfectly when imported
- Do not trim silence from the beginning of individual tracks
- Do not normalize or apply master bus processing
- Send files via Google Drive, Dropbox, WeTransfer, or any file-sharing service

What "Minor Revision" Means for Mixing
Every project includes one round of minor revisions. Here is what that covers — and what it does not — so there are no surprises.
Included as Minor Revisions
- Volume adjustments: "bring the vocal up 1.5dB in the chorus"
- EQ tweaks: "the vocal feels a bit dark, can you open up the top end"
- Effect adjustments: "less reverb on verse 2", "shorter delay"
- De-esser fine-tuning: "the S sounds are still a bit harsh"
- Pitch correction touch-ups: "bar 12, the second word is flat"
- Balance tweaks between lead and harmonies
Not Included (Requires New Scope)
- Re-recording or re-tracking vocals
- Full remix from scratch
- New arrangement or added instrumentation
- Mixing a new or different instrumental
- Genre conversion (making a folk mix sound like EDM)
- Adding vocal production elements that were not in the original stems (harmonies you did not record)
A good rule of thumb: if the revision takes us back into the session to adjust something that already exists, it is minor. If it requires creating something new or undoing finished work, it is a new scope. When in doubt, ask — we will tell you upfront.
Vocal Mix Work
Before-and-after audio available on request for serious inquiries.
"Waves" EP (5 Tracks)
Independent R&B artist, London — Alt-R&B
Vocal mixing for a 5-track EP. Lead + harmony stacks (4-8 vocal tracks per song) over client-provided 2-track instrumentals. Pitch correction, timing alignment, spatial placement, and streaming-ready loudness optimization across all tracks.
"Running Through"
Singer-songwriter, Toronto — Indie Pop
Lead vocal + 3 harmony tracks over a producer-supplied 2-track instrumental. Light, transparent pitch correction to preserve the natural indie vocal character. Room reverb and subtle slap delay for a live, intimate feel.
"Electric Fever"
Pop duo, Austin — Synth Pop
Two lead vocalists + stacked harmonies (11 tracks total) over a synth-heavy 2-track. Heavier tuning for the polished pop sound the track called for, wide stereo doubles, vocal chops and textures in the bridge section.

Add-ons
What We Don't Mix (And Why)
We are upfront about scope because clarity builds trust. Here is what falls outside our vocal mixing service — and what to do instead.
Full Multitrack Instrumental Sessions
If you have 40+ tracks of drums, bass, guitars, keys, synths, and percussion that all need individual balancing, that is a full multitrack mix — a different discipline, different pricing, and a different workflow. We specialize in vocals over 2-track because focus produces quality. We can recommend trusted engineers who specialize in full multitrack mixing.
Live Band Recordings
Live band sessions with bleed between microphones, phase issues, and room acoustics to manage require a different mixing approach than studio-recorded vocals over a clean instrumental. If you recorded a full band live, we recommend an engineer with live-room experience.
Orchestral Works
Orchestral mixing — whether live-recorded or sample-based with 60+ instrument sections — is its own specialty. The balance conventions, reverb treatment, and dynamic range management are fundamentally different from pop vocal mixing. We will point you to specialists for this.
Why We Specialize
- Vocal mixing is where a dedicated specialist makes the biggest audible difference on a track
- By staying focused on vocals over 2-track, we deliver better results faster — no scope creep into rebalancing a 60-track instrumental
- Most independent artists have a finished instrumental from a producer or beatmaker and just need their vocal to sit right — that is exactly what we do
- If your instrumental needs work, we recommend addressing it at the source (producer/beatmaker) before sending stems for vocal mix
- For artists who need both instrumental production and vocal mixing, see our Arrangement & Production service — we can handle the full chain
Vocal Mix FAQ
What are "dry vocal stems"?
Dry vocal stems are your raw, unprocessed vocal recordings exported as individual WAV files with no effects, no EQ, no compression, and no reverb. They should be exported from the very start of your session (all files the same length, starting at 0:00 or bar 1 beat 1) so they line up perfectly when imported into our mix session. Each vocal part — lead, harmony 1, harmony 2, ad-lib, double — should be its own file, clearly labeled. If you recorded with effects for monitoring, that is fine — just bypass them on export.
How should I export my vocal tracks?
Export each vocal part as its own WAV file at 24-bit or 32-bit float, 44.1kHz or 48kHz. Consolidate from bar 1 beat 1 (or 0:00) so all files start at the same point and are the same length. Bypass all insert effects, EQ, compression, and sends. Name files descriptively: Lead_Verse.wav, Harm_High_Chorus.wav, Adlib_Outro.wav. Send your 2-track instrumental as a separate high-quality WAV or MP3 320kbps. Do not normalize — we handle levels in the mix.
Do you do pitch correction?
Yes, pitch correction is included in every tier at no extra cost. We can do light, transparent correction that preserves natural vocal character and vibrato, moderate tuning for a clean but still human feel, or heavier tuning for a polished pop/electronic vocal sound. Tell us your preference when you submit, or we will match the correction style to your reference track. If you prefer completely untuned vocals, just let us know and we will skip it — the mix will still benefit from EQ, compression, and spatial treatment.
What is the difference between 2-track and multitrack mixing?
2-track mixing means you provide a single stereo file of your finished instrumental, and we mix your vocal stems over it. We cannot adjust individual instruments within the instrumental — the balance is locked. Multitrack mixing means you provide every instrument as a separate track (kick, snare, bass, guitar L, guitar R, keys, etc.), giving the engineer full control over the instrumental balance. We do vocal-over-2-track because it keeps the scope focused and the turnaround fast. If your instrumental is not balanced well, it should be fixed by the producer before it reaches the vocal mix stage.
How many vocal tracks can I send?
Basic: 1-2 vocal tracks (typically lead vocal only, or lead + one double). Standard: 2-6 vocal tracks (lead + harmonies, typically a standard pop song vocal arrangement). Pro: up to 12+ vocal tracks (lead, stacked harmonies, doubles, ad-libs, background vocals, vocal effects). Each tier covers vocal editing and mixing proportionate to the track count. If you have a larger session — such as a choir track or a complex a cappella arrangement — mention it in your inquiry and we will scope it individually.
What if my instrumental needs mixing too?
We do not mix full multitrack instrumental sessions. If your instrumental was produced by someone else and the balance is not where you want it, your best path is to have the original producer deliver a properly balanced 2-track. If the instrumental is beyond repair or you need it recreated, see our Backing Track Remake service. We can also recommend trusted mix engineers who specialize in full multitrack sessions — happy to point you to the right person for your genre and budget.
Can you match the vocal sound to my reference track?
Yes. Reference tracks are the most efficient way to communicate the vocal sound you want. Send us 1-3 tracks that capture the vocal tone, spatial placement, and overall finish you are aiming for — YouTube or Spotify links are fine. We match the EQ curve, compression character, reverb style, delay treatment, stereo width, and overall loudness to your references. The closer your raw vocal recording quality is to the reference track's vocal quality, the closer the match will be. A bedroom recording will not sound identical to a major-label studio vocal, but we will get it as close as the source material allows.
